Lucian C. Chen

Lucian C. Chen practices a broad range of intellectual property law with an emphasis on complex pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent litigation. He is a litigator with over a decade of experience representing clients in multibillion-dollar patent litigation cases involving products as varied as antifungals, antibiotics, osteoporosis therapies, oral contraceptives, and cholinesterase inhibitors. His extensive involvement in all aspects of patent litigation spans counseling clients and initiating litigation, through to both bench and jury trials.

Mr. Chen also has significant experience in preparing pre-suit investigations, non-infringement opinions, licensing and settlement agreements and intellectual property due diligence. In addition, he has prepared trademark applications and counseled clients in copyright disputes.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Chen was Founding Editor-in-Chief of BioProcessing, a peer-reviewed journal focusing on the industrial biotechnology industry. His decade-long journalism career includes experience as Associate Managing Editor of Genetic Engineering News, the leading trade publication of the biotechnology field, as well as Managing Director and Editor for a group of science websites in the VerticalNet e-commerce family.
